Using latex to write articles does not quite qualify as programming,
right? At least my use of tex is 'being processed', not 'processing

I would like to have http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3132
fixed before a beta. This crash is serious enough that I can not
compile any of my long documents.
Of course, I do
Does this mean files all but this in Win32/packaging/install are Joost's?
Yes. installer is Joost's and LyxWinInstaller is Uwe's.
Which files have to be merged?
All of them. I plan to homogenize two installers gradually. Something
like matching filenames and functions, renaming files if need

That's great news indeed. Thanks for mediating.

Georg,
I had a look at the FIXMEs you added. Actually, I don't understand
completely what you mean. However, I noticed that some deleted spaces
are erroneously shown in the output (with CT output disabled). I fixed
this by putting the check for deleted text to the top of the loop.

Why could not this be done automatically by LyX?

I thought this file is for beginners, it should be short and only about
compiling LyX.
