May be this is not directly a LyX question but it would be nice to have such
functionality in LyX too.
I avoided orphan and widow lines using
\clubpenalty=1
\widowpenalty=1
in the preamble. However, that cannot avoid widow headings (I hope i am using
the terminology correctly,
I can login on baywatch within a dece nt amount of time, but all cvs
access needs several minutes _after_ giving the password on the
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]'s password:" prompt.

The attached patch, or something like it, will enable whoever wants to
experiment with LyX/Mac-1.4.0 to at least get it to build.
