Apologies due. Since Lyx no longer compiles under my native C++ compiler I cannot distinguish between Lyx requiring gcc tools such as assemblers and linkers and gcc requiring them. Math Panel -> Misc -> insert any of those mathbb symbols (N,Z,Q,R,C,H) If this is done in text mode, you'll get a correct math (Type: simple Font: mathbb). However, if this is done in math mode, you'll get an extra \textrm (Type: simple Font: textrm Font: mathbb), which will give you a LaTeX error
