Protected Blanks in TeX-Mode

Hi! I just discovered (after I already doubted if I should really work today), that LyX now if one is in LaTeX-Mode and inserts "protected blanks", they are not outputed as protected blanks, but as normal blanks. Is this behaviour (which surely was not like this last time I used it) wanted or not
