I'm a fairly new user to Lyx and I am starting to realise the power of the
preamble and using in text TEX commands.
I'm using "book" (sometimes report, can't decide yet) as my base style and a
whole load of preamble and in-text TEX commands to set my PhD thesis layout
to just how I like it.

While I agree that we should keep the short, because only very
few people have problems with it, let me say that the memory
overhead is not much worse than it is in LyX now. The current
structure allocates qu

IMHO we should switch to using int anyway.

Yes, this looks good. I'll look into it when I get the time.

Fixing the bug will add a little run-time overhead, but string assignment will
still be constant time, so I think it's safe to fix this. I don't have time
these days.

The correct solution is to use the new debugstream in 1.1.x, but since
that will not happen in 1.0.x, use a cast:

Introduction
I was just at the LyX homepage.
Looks to me like the links to 1.0.2 should be replaced with 1.0.3 (and
the announcement of 1.0.2 should be replaced with the one for 1.0.3).

Thanks again for the quick work on
In the 1.0.3 example lyxrc, it doesn't give "ascii" as a possible value
for "\custom_export_format". Also, in the credits, "litterate programming"
should be "literate programming". I found that amusing!
