My mother (bless her heart) always told me not to pick at scabs. This
installer thing is like a scab because I can't stop pick pick picking. :)
BTW, has anyone updated the wiki to say that you can't use the 32-bit ISO's
on secure boot pc's? :(

Ali, thanks for testing the manual partitioner. That's where I first
consistently reproduced the out-of-memory crashing.
If anyone wants to benchmark ZRAM on hardware... I found this:

it's a fragmentation problem. Linux apps will be supporting 1 of the
following: X11, MIR or Wayland. This question is probably better asked on
the LXDE mailing list.

If ACPI=off (on the boot screen of the cd) doesn't work, You might try
crunchbang 11 which is a different kernel.

:) Hi Phil!
I believe that people with the best info should make the decisions. I am
simply trying to provide options.
Also, my instructional video on the alternate installer is up to 3800

I've only ever had crashes when using the manual partitioner.
how many of those tests were using the manual partitioner to move the swap
partition?
I found a user complaint in the last month about this issue (i can't prove
the cause obviously):

I honestly think zram could help during the one-time graphical installation
of Lubuntu on 512MB pcs. In fact, edubuntu included zram in that
distribution for that exact reason. We could eliminate crashing and the
need to delete the slideshow to install.
