always worked for me in the past on other distros though. I can't remember if
I've ever used it in Lubuntu though. It seems to me that it ought to work here

iso does not get written
to the drive. I can take the same iso file and flash drive, reboot this Acer
into Linuxmint 18.3 Cinnamon, and it works just fine. So, I'm just wondering
if there's something I'm doing wrong here in Lubuntu? Or, is something else
