On Lubuntu 16.04 (as well as other Ubuntu variants), a file system check
is done when the system is initialized.
"fsck" is the command for doing a file-system check.
I suspect a problem with a file-system used by the system was detected,
and that it was serious enough that it couldn't

lubuntu-desktop installs ok, but after boot,
shows black screen with fsck output.
flipping to virtual screens, each show a login prompt, but then flips back
to fsck screen.
i tried yakkity yak, but found no system tools control.
suggestions? should i pur
