Aere: I believe you are correct, possibly on all fronts . . . but particularly on the "official" release of 14.10. I might have been lulled into submission on the belief that this MATE 14.04 PPC spin was "LTS" . . . and it might be. The Ubuntu part of it should be LTS . . . clearly the MATE part

Nio: Thanks for the follow-up, agreed, I think for PPC the LTS is the best idea. In terms of what package, from some feedback on the Ubuntu MATE forum, it seems like mate for 14.04 is put together with meta-package(s) . . . not exactly sure what that is or why it is susceptible to discombobulatio
