But I guess it is intended to make the typical images available, is it at
all possible to expand the timeframe and get a new build with the manifest
fixes and such implemented or is that out of the question in this case?

Correction: it MAY not be released due to packaging issues, which
Xubuntu seems to be having too, albeit in a different manifestation.
