In my computer it was solved by entering "default applications for
LXSession", autostart tab and there choosing "no" at "Disable autostarted
applications?" setting. I logged out and logged in and there was the
network icon, which was an enable autostarted application.

mkusb version 8.4 is uploaded to Phill's server.
I found a bug that depends on the current date (now that it is a
one-digit date (August 2). It made mkusb fail to find target devices. I
squashed the bug and uploaded version 8.4 which has no bug that I know
of now
