Hi John
As for freezing we discovered that since kernel 3.10.6 zram is broken
If you are seeing issues on kernels before that, then it is a separate bug.
As for the report back from 'sudo parted -l' it is still there in the
new 3.11.0-9
kernel. This is a separate bug as to the 'crash and burn' is
On Raring, output from 'sudo parted -l' includes:
Error: /dev/zram0: unrecognised disk label
And syslog shows a slew of errors:
Lubuntu kernel: Buffer I/O error on device zram0, logical block 128247
Syslog also indicates that half of memory was given to zram to form its
block device.

Hi everybody,
There is a tarball of Lubuntu beta 2 i386 with zRAM off for the One
Button Installer. I have made it in KVM and tested it in my IBM Thinkpad
T42 with Pentium M without a PAE flag.
crontab is used to switch zRAM off. I will soon upload it to

Hi again,
I tested, and 'saucy-desktop-amd64.iso' cloned to a USB drive booted via
grub in UEFI mode, so it works :-)
But the first 64-bit version I tested, 'saucy-alternate-amd64+mac.iso'
did not boot in UEFI mode. Maybe the alternate ISOs are not made for UEFI(?)
Best regards
Nio

OK Phill,
but what about the standard Lubuntu amd64 version? Is it supposed to
work with UEFI (like Ubuntu does)? If you have never heard about it, the
answer is probably 'no', but it would be nice to know for sure.
Best regards
Nio
