Hi Lars,
I noticed you reported on one of your [PPC] installation test results
that you needed the "snd-powermac.blacklist=yes" boot parameter. Has
the "fixing recursive..." bug returned? As far as I know, that was why
we used that boot parameter in the past.

Hi,
the kernel made by Joe is only for AMD64 at present. Julien has requested
that the patch be applied to all kernels so that after final-beta is out,
it can land in the daily builds. The 3.12rc1 is available for 64 and 32 bit
only from the links I was given.
Regards,
Phill.

Hi Aere,
the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1227202 is in
the final-beta ISO's, if you are using an AMD/Intel 64 bit computer, you
can install a kernel with the proposed fix in it. There seems to be more
than one bug affecting zram and further investigations are ongoing.

Keith,
such information would be really handy as we have to write up some release
notes for the known bug for when 13.10 final-beta comes out on Thursday.
With the fix from upstream only currently available in amd64 for the 'it
freezes at the end of instal' section, which does not solve a further
Hi folks,
there is an amd64 desktop iso just been spun up with the patch in.

the details.

Phill.

Hi Aere and Pierre
when you both get a bit of time, would you write up a wiki page for this.
It is a departure from our existing method of keyboard switching and I'm
certain that people using 13.10 for the first time will also be looking for
answers. You are free to just write up the instructions
Hi,
Whilst still awaiting full confirmation, Nio and myself have two separate
downloads of the ISO completed and we concur that the file size is
1049980928
and the md5sum is e939fec65cd6d9a01689b22468f2300a
ubuntu-13.10-desktop-amd64-lp1227202.iso
I still have 2 hours remaining to get the ISO
We have confirmation that file size and md5sum is as stated.

Phill.

Hi Phil,
First, cut to the chase; the installation succeeded. Here's what I did:
I attempted the same installation as before--automatic resize option
from the [PPC] Live iso using a usb flash drive.
Used boot parameter "live video=radeonfb:1920x1080-32@60" to boot the
Live iso.
After it
Hi Keith,
that looks good so far, seeing zram0 and zram1 still there we are thinking
is a separate bug. Getting the system able to install is currently priority
#1.
I've still got 45 mins to go before I can start testing the
ubuntu-desktop-amd64 ISO and see how it plays out.
Regards,
Phill.
Congratulations :-)
I think those commands are only a temporary switch off of zram. So after
reboot it will re-appear (and the installed system is not affected at
all). You need to do something else, for example remove the package
zram-config to switch it off completely and persistently.
Best reg
Hi Nio,
Thanks very much for the good instructions!
