As far as I know, the idea will once again be to allow the various teams in lubuntu to update each other on what is going on, the logs of which people can then read. The teams have different mailing lists, so unless you are subscribed to all of them there can be gaps on what people know is going on

There is more to lubuntu than dev :) Not everyone is on the -qa mailing list, but people may like to see an update, say once a month, on how testing is going. The same goes for wiki / documents etc. etc. Having such a short meeting puts into one place (one log file) the thoughts and ideas from the
