Greg,
I never said I couldn't figure it out :)
It's more of an issue of answering the question of how to take care of users
that ONLY have wifi. I mean, it's possible they don't have an ethernet cable.
Or maybe they have one of those lame ISP-provided routers/modems that don't
have ethernet po
If you want the firmware I can attach it to an email directly to you.
Then you could insert the firmware in the /lib/firmware directory just
like in the link I posted in the previous email. I think you need the
b43 legacy firmware and i can send it and b43 firmware.. Or you could
load them on a di
Oh man, Greg, you're bottom posting AGAIN! (just kidding).
Anywho, I was smart enough to look in /lib/firmware (as well as elsewhere and
can't find the correct files). I will point out there is /lib/firmware/brcm
which includes:
bcm43xx-0.fw bcm43xx_hdr-0.fw brcmfmac43236b.bin
all of which r
FYI the machine I'm next to now has a BCM4306.

If that computer next to you has b43 legacy firmware,, in the /lib/firmware ..
You can get it on your powerpc box and
Hi,
as you say, I'm only raising the concerns of someone for whom the LiveCD
worked fine and after installation had no WiFi. I'll go back through the
emails and have him raise a bug. The chat about it is on this ML.

Phill.

I think the anomaly is in your assumption that it does work. I have tried it on
two different Broadcom-equipped ppc machines and it does not work. As I said
before, it's because everything is not included. b43-fwcutter is not the
driver; it's a tool that extracts and installs the firmware which
hiyas,
So, maybe you could explain the anomaly whereby the LiveCD works with the
broadcom chipset? I'm not a great fan of pages upon pages of discussions on
the finer art of stuff... I'm a fan of ... "Yeah, that works". My request
is that as we have LiveCD work fine with b43, but it is not include
It's come to me knowledge that b43-fwcutter is a FIRMWARE cutter which is to
say it doesn't include the firmware. I believe someone mentioned this recently
and it's also in the Broadcom wiki page [1]. So a connection is still required
in order to download the firmware itself. This involves two f
Hi Boss,
so as to stop the restless natives :P It does certainly appear the b43
support is on the LiveCD but not on the install iso's. I did have a quick
check with -release and they said that it is a flavour specific decision as
to if it is included. I'd ask that as we have it on LiveCD image it
