if it is the kernel update that has killed it (that was what I was warned
about), you should be able to tell grub to use your last known working one,
which would be faster than a re-install. Else you can re-install from your
last ISO image. For anyone who has run zsync on it since ~ 23rd

only to the Live ISO's.
I already had 13.10 installed on my hard drive. I was running it when
I got the chance. I ran Software Update daily to check for updates and
keep it current. That went fine until yesterday

the reason I cancelled the PPC testing last weekend is that I had been told
the new kernel *would* kill PPC machines. I offered the advice to grab the
then desktop ISO before it got updated. The work on the kernel is
specifically planned and I will update everyone when I have more news.
