I've finally got my mac mini g4 working, to an extent. It will make
the chime and i hear it spinning up, but nothing appears on my screen.
I also cannot eject the cd.
Is the dvi port analogue only or am i doing something wrong. the
monitor is 1080p if that's an issue

13.04 runs fine on my MDD. I installed it from the Live iso about a
week ago. I use it for all my online purchases, banking, etc.,
anything I need to do online where security is of utmost importance. I
don't use OS X for online financial business anymore.

Another clue, maybe ... When I can't boot from a Daily (live or alternate),
I'll reinstall the June 13 Daily Build of 13.10, since I consider that a
"known entity."
After reinstalling the June 13 Daily Build and getting a usable desktop, I
ran Update Manager and let it get everything up to date.
Hi Boss,
you asked for some further tests to be carried out, do you need more tests
doing? From my reading, the ppc kernel installs okay gut putting a DE onto
it kills the system.
Thanks for your time in looking into this,
Phill.

Just an addition to what I reported earlier: from the terminal window in
Ubuntu Server, I tried installing lubuntu-desktop.
When I rebooted, I had the same hang at the flashing dots that normally
happens.
I ctrl-alt-f1'd to get to a screen, I could login. Since lubuntu-desktop
was installed, I tr
Hi James,
First, let me clarify I meant "Control-Alt-F*" to get to a console.
I am also sent back to a root prompt when I use "sudo shutdown -r
now". But, if I "Control-Alt-F7" to get back to the original screen,
under the flashing dots is a message which basically says to remove

I downloaded and tried to install the most recent Kubuntu PPC LiveCD Daily.
I had the same result as Keith. The flashing dots screen is where I stop. I
can also get into a console, but I cannot sudo restart from it: I keep
getting sent back to a root prompt. I can sudo shutdown from it, however.

As you requested yesterday, I attempted to boot the Ubuntu 13.10 Live
iso. It acted the same as the Lubuntu 13.10 Live iso-- it would not
progress past the text screen with the 4 flashing dots (plymouth?).
For the record, I was never able to boot the Ubuntu 13.04 Live iso,
either.
