The install worked here, using the method you suggested Greg. .
Took a while, but it worked.
Used the 12.10 Desktop build for PPC
So now I have an install of 12.10 (Sept 5) on my hard disk, and it's working,
but not entirely clean. Still have the wierd colouring on the tool bars top of

Yup,
it happened. There was so many grumblings about various fixes for Ubiquity
that the -release team have bitten the bullet and issued re-spins [1]. The
ones that need testing are date stamped 20120905 (It does not affect
Alternate etc).

the Beta 1 is now being carried out [1]. The more people who test, the
fuller the results. One very welcome change recently added is that bugs are
carried over when an iso is re-spun (re made to fix a serious bug)
