there might not be even a
choice.
I for one would like an alternative to both systemd and udev on my
Linux systems, and as of yet, I don't know of one.
Cheers.

I also would prefer the third solution. I don't think there's much
difference from the user-space point of view, and a new ioctl would be
cleaner. Also the v4l2 fourcc's should do.
Cheers.

a bunch of headers (and a document explaining
how to use them). We (the linux community) can come up with a bunch of
headers too, in fact, we already do much more than that with v4l2, the
only part missing is encoders/decoders, which if needed could be added
very easily (Samsung already does AFAIK). Rig
ould be configurable through kconfig. Then, the
CMA would have a "dma" flag or something, and take chunks out of it
until there's no more, and then return errors. That would work for
ARM.
Cheers.

My suggestion[2] was to have minimal defconfigs so that we could do
$ cp arch/arm/configs/omap3_beagle_baseconfig .config
$ echo "" | make ARCH=arm oldconfig

I don't think we have any alternative yet.
