Hi,
I have just tested my PCTV 290e DVB-T2 adapter with 3.12.5 and discovered that
it fails with logs of messages like these:
[11720.780975] __tda18271_write_regs: [7-0060|M] ERROR: idx = 0x5, len = 1,
i2c_transfer returned: -19

The logic that detects if auto search mode should be used is too
complex.
Also, it doesn't cover all cases, as the dib8000_tune logic
requires either auto mode or a fully specified manual mode.
So, move it to a separate function and add some extra debug
data to help identifying when it falled bac

At least with my Pixelview PV-D231U stick, the dib8000 driver is
deadly broken.
One issue was caused by a regression already solved by Oliver.
Not sure why, but the patch was never merged upstream.
The other issue took me a long time to properly track and fix it.
It is a race condition that it i
Both dvbv5-scan and dvbv5-zap tools call FE_GET_PROPERTY inside the
loop that checks for stats. If the frontend doesn't support DVBv5, it
falls back to call the DVBv5 stats APIs(FE_READ_BER, FE_READ_SIGNAL,
FE_READ_SNR and FE_READ_UNCORRECTED_BLOCKS).
A call to FE_GET_PROPERTY makes dvb-frontend c

Commit 173a64cb3fcf broke support for some dib807x versions.
Fix it by providing backward compatibility with the older versions.

Hi Hans,
thanks for your reply. I understand your point of view. Since the sn9c102 will
be removed from the kernel soon, I am considering another option, that is to
move the driver to UV4L, which is a transparent, ~100% userspace
implementation of V4L2-compliant drivers for input devices.
So,
