Known problem. Its been there for a long time in 2.3.x. File system access

While running mke2fs on a SCSI software RAID-5 array, the message "kernel
bug at buffer.c:765!" was printed, along with an oops (below).
Dual pentium, aic7xxx,
In the middle of mke2fs'ing /dev/md1 (3x18Gb disks):
raid5: resync finished.
