I guess there will be problems with ADSL in israel for Linux users...
Bezeq is using an ActiveX functionality to do a DHCP release/renew
automaticaly...
anybody knows anything else?

Hi
There is a very easy solution for your problem...
Activate WINS service on one of your NT servers, then at home enter it's
IP address in the "WINS Server" box ( ;-) )
Another solution is to create a hosts + lmhosts files on your home
computer

Hi
If I am not mistaken, NT uses a proprietary protocol to do the call-back
(I
think it's called CBCP...) and it's an extension to PPP (I think to
MS-CHAP exactly...)
As I understand no script will do it... because you have to use MS-CHAP...

Hi
I use a Bullet E56K modem I bought from Bynet (Binat...) - they have
internal (PCI) and external versions, and it's a Rockwell chipset, so it
really works... It's not too cheap...
Try at www.bynet.co.il

Hi
There are some flaws in your way of thinking...
First, when you talk to a support guy, there are more things that cost money
than only his salary...
Think of the Electricity bill, PBX, the cost of his computer and the network
he is connected to, with all databases and systems. Also think of th
Hi
Bezeq did this thing a long time ago to save on copper lines. Today there
should be no problem to convert such a line to a normal 2 pair line. You
just have to ask Bezeq.
The only exception might be in a very old house - and even there they should
be able to do that - but it might take some ti

Hi
I
guess it has to do with the long delay which is limiting your
bandwidth.
The
answer is in this technical article:

Before "dialing" (opening the vpn) do a "netstat -rn" or "route -n"

Hi
If you intend to connect to some ISP, just take the router they give you
for free (most of them...), and use a normal ethernet NIC, that would be
the cheapest solution...

goes through a
different path than Sifranet. You can get such a line (2M) but get less
actual bandwidth (like 1M) and it's cheaper than a 1M Sifranet.
