If you're inclined, check out the CyanogenMod ROM. Works great for
me, much better than (*&%$) carrier-branded firmware.

Can anyone recommend a reliable one for use with Linux (Debian Wheezy
FWIW), that's available to buy in Israel?

Hi Stan,
I got Hebrew support on my Android phone (HTC Desire HD / Android 2.2)
by installing the third party firmware CyanogenMod which has many
other benefits over stock. However, this technically voids the
warranty.
When I owned Nokias in the past, I used "special" software to change

Hi all,
I'm about to cancel my incredibly expensive HOT Triple and get
Internet-only instead.
I'm not that bothered about TV but I do have a MythTV box lying around
from the old country, and I'd be happy to see if I could get it
working here. It would just need a PCI tuner card or two. As I see
What decade do their developers live in? I have little luck with the

Is there any movement afoot to get them to sort it out?

A long shot, but there's a possibility it could be a PMTUD (Path MTU

Hi all,
A friend has been asked to do sone sysadmin for a company who resells
Linux servers to a niche market.
Basically, they have added a PCI-E USB 3 / SATA card, but it's not
recognized. Work to include verifying card is supported under Linux,

I'm not such a GUI user, but for rarely performed tasks like these, it
makes sense.
For CDs, I use asunder which is a GUI tool, to rip to flac. I then use
Picard to get the tags correct (MusicBrainz is a wonderful service).
For ripping DVDs, I use dvd::rip with great success.
Hope this helps.
I put a compiled file at http://db.tt/wVCB6HJd. I copied it to
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Asia/Jerusalem, and on my Debian system I did
dpkg-reconfigure tzdata which as far as I can tell copies the file to
/etc/localtime. You may wish to use cp instead. ;)
