I'm not such a GUI user, but for rarely performed tasks like these, it makes sense. For CDs, I use asunder which is a GUI tool, to rip to flac. I then use Picard to get the tags correct (MusicBrainz is a wonderful service). For ripping DVDs, I use dvd::rip with great success. Hope this helps.
