I guess that's because you're in raw keyboard mode.
You might try Alt-SysRq-R (unRaw) and then Alt-Ctrl-Del.

I noticed this with mandrake 7.2, but I see to recall the same with
mandrake 7.0 .
Any ideas? (besides the
