I built an initrd - see my original post.
BTW - I also tried building it into the kernel - didn't solve the problem.

If the root filesystem is on the SCSI drive, obviously.
The other solution (what RedHat 6.1 has used) is an initrd image with
all of the SCSI modules, but I'd suggest yo
Hi.
I downloaded the 2.4.3 kernel and built it with no problems.
I also did a mkinitrd, also with no problems.
My /etc/modules.conf contains
alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx
( I also tried aic7xxx_old)
When I boot with the new kernel, it fails to mount the root file
system:
request_module[scs
would probably be a good
idea.

Hello Yotam
Well, he could've asked two types of questions, I think each of us thought
about another question:
1. 'should I upgrade from 2.2.x to 2.4.3'
2. 'should I upgrade from 2.4.2 to 2.4.3'.
Usually kernel 2.4.3 will contain less bugs than 2.4.2, and more new

Gentle people,
Although the 2.4 is labeled as stable, there were many critical bugs following
its release. I usually wait a while prior to upgrading to a new version.
2.4 is not entirely stable and may not become stable until 2.4.5.
In my opinion, you should wait a couple of weeks and then upgra
with the garbage collector in the kernel.
So everyone who uses kernel 2.4.x and compiles C++ stuff is urged to upgrade
to kernel 2.4.3
it's available in IGLU's ftp server.
Thanks,

Hello Eran
Why not ? It's usually good to upgrade the kernel.
