I have the same soundcard. There's driver for trident 4dwave that comes
now with the kernel (2.2.16+), but somewhy its not working for me. my
computer hangs when i load it, but - try it first..
If its not working, use alsa's driver. that driver works great (including
full duplex, etc).

It sounds like you did not compile sound support in to
your Kernel.
In order for your sound card to work you'd have to
recompile your kernel and set sound support in to it.
