hi
i do: biditext evolution
i double click on a message
i see both the subject and the contence of the email reversed
i do: touch /tmp/.rev;xrefresh
now the subject changes direction, but the rest of the email is still
mirrored. (remember that both the subject and email are in the SAME

that would depend on which version of biditext you're using. if you're
using the old biditext, i really dont know.

What do you mean?
biditext program_with_args
runs program_with_args with biditext. This means that any string that this
program (or subprocess of it) will draw on the sc

Hi,
Anyone knows if it's possible to improve biditext so that it'll analyze
the character set of the font in the GC (and thus used in XDrawString)?
Looking around the Xlib API, it looks like the only way to do it is to
cache a font list and match font IDs. Is there a way to retriev
Hi List
I'm using GtkLib and GTK+ 1.2.10, and has a strange problem with biditext,
it appears it shows each word correctly, yet the sentence is reversed, so
that, I can get sentences like
"world hello" instead of "hello world" (in hebrew, of course).

As I said before: both of biditext and gtkbidi use fribidi, and fribidi
uses glib. Maybe fribidi fails to use the existing glib. Try rebuilding
fribidi.
I would also like to know if rebuilding fribidi is enough (that
is: assuming that rebuilding frbidi solves the problem: will it work with

Hi,
well, I looked a bit deeper into the problem, and found out that it has
nothing to do with biditext (it also crashes without using biditext), it
only happens on GTK+ apps, and only in some dialog boxes (not all).

Hi,
Well, I tried both gtkbidi and biditext - both give the same error.. here is
the error after recompiling both RPM's..

Hi,
I just upgraded my RH 7.0 to RH 7.1 and everything seems to work pretty well,
only 1 problem there is...
I'm using Xchat + biditext to chat with hebrew. I'm using it like this:
LC_CTYPE=iw_IL LANG=iw_IL biditext xchat
The thing is - as long as I don't type anything in hebr

Regarding licq, there is a version of it on ftp.linux.org.il that supports
bidi internally, thus cancelling the need for biditext.
Regarding mozilla, use konqueror :)...

Hi all
As some of you know, biditext (biditext.so) is a nice hack by Matan Ziv-Av
for making almost any X program display logical hebrew. It works at a
rather low-level (in Xlib) and therefore works almost everywhere (I think
that the only exceptions are gnu emacs and mozilla).
You can find it

So keep up the good work

Very neat hack. I'm also happy
Hi,
I just uploaded to www.cs.bgu.ac.il/~zivav/hebrew a new version of
biditext (a library to enable use of implicit direction hebrew with X
application).
Changes:
Redefining XDrawImageString, as well as XDrawString (so now xterm can be
affected as well).
