I've already done the sndconfig thing... Like I've said, I already had
sound working in linux, it just stopped. And I don't want to use the
RedHat kernel since it is faulty, and doesnt include support for all the
devices I need.

support sound (unfortunately is the normal way on Linux), before I have
found that the RH 5.2 kernel was compiled with support of many sound
card !.
You'd need to find the utility called sndconfig or something like
this,
I have redhat linux 5.2, with a self compiled 2.0.36 kernel, sources not
from the redhat cd.
Sound was working perfectly fine before, but for some reason now it sais
it can't find the sound module. I only noticed this now, and I havn't
used sound for a long time, so I have no clue what I did last
