Amichai - I agree that a laser is a better deal because of ink/toner
prices. In fact I have 2 on my home network. But possibly I was not
clear enough in my original question. I'm looking for a CHEAP fax/scan
alternative and it seems that today even the cheapest scan

much printing. I now prefer Samsung printers. usually works out of the box

There is an addon for GhostScript called hpdj. It provides better PCL 3
support for all PCL based printer of the DeskJet series (including
abnormal resolutions, greyscale IIRC even colors).
