i don't think, it's just a linux problem. here the scool buy some HP695Cxi,
and they have just win 3.1/win95/NT drivers. we want to install it for Irix
6.5. HP said: no

it lists known printers, and the current support available for Unix systems,
linux included

You should remember that there are cases that:
1. You won't get full support (eg: 300 DPI instead of 600 for some printers).
2. The printer is NOT win printer (means: you can print from DOS operating
system
