Ok problem resolved ...finally.

attached is my current working lilo.conf.
The advice on adding the lines of disk=... was indeed very helpfull, the
catch was to try many versions of it
Just out of curiosity .. do you have the linux hd configured as a
SECONDARY slave without a master?

1st IDE: WD HD

and if so how were they solved?
Basically what it means is that my BIOS has problems with the HD's...
I just upgraded to the latest version of my bios, it solved a few
problems i had before (liek it not being able to boot from CD)..
If it is true then I have to downgrade the bios... which is an
interesting task on its own...

I just finished installing a new linux system (RH7.1 based).
the system was installed on a new HD which is currently configured as a
secondary slave on a PIII machine with SE440BX-2 motherboard.
I'm having a few problems here:
1. A bit off topic but might be related, the PM HD is a 15GB
What you need to do is change lilo.conf, and then just run lilo as root
(under my distro there is also a prog liloconfig, but I havn't tried it
and I don't know if its standard, sims from the opening lines that it sets
up lilo to boot from hardisk)
