Shlomo,
In your configuration, eth0 spans the whole 10.0.0.0/8 range, and eth0:1
has a range inside... this is not something recommanded. I wonder that it
even works. I guess your problem with the static setup was network mask.
All you have to do is staticaly config the machines exactly how the

I'm back on-line with excellent speed - so I guess the problem was the old

The one small problem I had was that I always had static IP addresses on my

Thanks for all the detailed replies. I'm actually left with only one question,
before I buy a router (as everyone has agreed).
I understand that the Linksys WRT54G-L is Linux friendly, but aside from the
desire to support open source, why does that matter? You've all basically
confirmed what th

Ok I think Geoffrey answered most of your questions... so just a few
comments from my experience:
1) Bezeq saying everything is ok doesn't mean everything is ok. It
means the very obvious things are ok. Also in my experience (as someone

Firstly, thanks to all who answered (on and off the list) with suggestions.
Here's an update on my situation and a few new questions (at the end of this
post). This time the questions are not really technical and I'm really asking
for opinions. Please feel free to answer one or all of them.

Lior,
Your detailed report on your ADSL

I have a problem connecting to the ADSL
service from Linux. I have tried everything I know and I simply can't get it to
work. Maybe some of the ADSL experts here will have an idea...

so copy your chap secrets file to papa secrets.
Hope this will do the trick.
