I have SMB installed and configured
successfully in my Linux box- (FILE SERVER)
when I want to get in the shared
directories from my windows computer (win98/2000) I can see the other
computers and the shared directories but I don't see the names of the files even not at the
explorer. If I
I can see the directories but not the name of the files,
If I write the name of the file it in Word/Excel it opens it.

windows doesn't ask me for
password or anything else.

I can see the files on the explorer but
they are Hidden
When I try to move the mark V from the
hidden option and then apply or OK
It does not remember it.
It remains hidden.
The files on the local disk (c:) are Ok
I can see them and they are not hidden.

How do I make it possible for linux ,and
word/excel under windows clients to see filenames on samba shares of my
server?
I can see the filenames on the explorer
but not in Word or Excel.
