Hi,
I've learned it the hard way, I have already re-compiled the kernel to
support sound (unfortunately is the normal way on Linux), before I have
found that the RH 5.2 kernel was compiled with support of many sound
card !.
You'd need to find the utility called sndconfig or something like
this,
