This ADSL problem sounds like what I had from Friday till yesterday when
it went away. I also use a Linux firewall. I kept on getting email and
could go to the web via a proxy on the firewall but the going to the web
from my Linux computer behind the firewall directly did not work... I

Ok I think Geoffrey answered most of your questions... so just a few

1) Bezeq saying everything is ok doesn't mean everything is ok. It
means the very obvious things are ok. Also in my experience (as someone

Firstly, thanks to all who answered (on and off the list) with suggestions.
Here's an update on my situation and a few new questions (at the end of this
post). This time the questions are not really technical and I'm really asking
