Ignoring silly things like startup latency, I thing Perl is better
for this job:
#!/usr/bin/perl -w
print &tostring($ARGV[0]), "\n";
sub tostring {
my $s = shift;
my @spl = split('\?', $s);
return $s if ($#spl != 3 || $spl[0] ne '=');
($_, $charset, $enc, $str) = @spl;

rsync was never ment for compying files
and is no match to fast copy programs
especially when you have large file list and when you are not using
compresion (or when you are low on mem)
there is actually no reason to use it as copy program.
piping tar and gz is much faster

Hello,
I'm trying to use rsync to synchronize several gigabytes of data between
Windows XP and Linux, on 100mbps LAN. My first try was to run rsync
server on Linux, and use rsync on XP to pull the data. However the
performance is REALLY bad... When I simply copy the file in explorer,

I have two Gamatronic UPS's: an MP110 (1000VA) model used for an Alpha
server and a smaller Compact (600VA) model used for a Linux machine. A
serial cable with Powermon II software (for Linux and various flavors of
Unix) is available for about an extra $60. Everything seems to work well.

Is there any RELIABLE (not necessarily the most updatedi or fast) debian

and got
# apt-get update

Hi all
Thought that there will be some people interested to
know about the following (and maybe someone could help
me):
I've downloaded PF7.2 iso's from ftp.iglu.org.il and
startetn installing it on a box with win98 and RH7.1
on it (upgrading the RH). My computer has AMD athlon
processor and 20 GB
Hi,
we got a lot of them at work and already (after less than 6 month) we also
have a lot of them broken down :-(.
However, their service was OK and they replaced them swiftly.
You should know that the 9pin sub-d interface of the cheaper UPSs only gives
a so-called contact-interface. I have the
