The ldap HOWTO is in the usual places.
http://www.ddtc.dimes.tudelft.nl/~malere/LDAP-Linux-HOWTO.html is the place to
look for new versions. This HOWTO has a references section as well.

Actually, he might have a web-management tool already installed,
quite a bit of distributions now come with linuxconf installed.
Unfurtunately (at least that's how I see it), linuxconf's web interface
is enabled by default, just go to http://yourhost.com:98/.

This "issue" is due to RedHat moving to a separate identd
daemon rather than one replying only when invoked from inetd.
I'm not sure. It might be for quicker responses, or it
might be for better configuration. Identd might be pretty busy
on a big server and so many children are launched when
/usr/

My best bet is that your Address Book file is simply corrupted.
If you have couple of address books, then it might be only one
file corrupted so you'll have to erase only one of them.
I know no way of recovering those.
Anyway, such a thing happened to me. It also crashed Netscape when

leaving aside for a moment the question about why i might wish to do such a
thing, if i configure an interface alias for the loopback, and give it a real
IP address, my machine (RH6.1, 2.2.5-20smp kernel) starts responding to
ARP requests for that IP address. this is true even if i configure
in redhat 6.1

It's not a dns error but one in the configuration of sendmail.
