BTW, couldn't you also run an etch NFSROOT and just upgrade the client to lenny?

For some reason I am unable to get FAI running properly on etch either. I
was getting chroot issues when running fai-setup.

Would you mind re-trying that? It seems like as FAI people cannot do much about
the current unionfs issue, but I'm sure we will get things going when using
etch. Alas,
