I love your quirky book selection, candles, kitchen stuff, advent calendars,

Hi Lincoln!
I am looking for a handy person with the tools for masonry drilling, to help me
install a hanging fireplace screen. I have all the components of the screen
(new) and the instructions— it should be pretty slick for anyone who’s done
similar jobs before.
Happy to pay $100 and a cup o
It is a false choice to present the issue as one of compliance versus not.
There are different ways of complying that do not require giving away the
town to developers. Rezoning large swaths of prime area for HCA compliance
equates to giving up on the town's longstanding mission of providing truly

residents can make an informed decision when asked to vote on a zoning

I fully agree with the HCA working group's stated goals to promote
socioeconomic diversity and encourage use of public transit by increasing
the affordable housing stock near Lincoln Station. I also agree with
people who worry about the impact of development on quality of life in
Lincoln. Clearly
That is what so beautiful about housing development in Lincoln. I was amazed at the number of condos already existed in the Lincoln Station area. However, this is all about to change under HCA. There will be 3 story condo buildings on Lincoln Road and the rural character of Lincoln will change f
Thank you for reminding us about this fact Ben. I am really puzzled as to
why people seem to think Lincoln is just homes for the wealthy. The number
of condos here is huge. Maybe people are unaware of their existence because
they are all (except Lincoln Woods) located on roads that you would not

I get the concern about growing up privileged and isolated. However, I am
not sure the HCA gets at the root cause. 40% of Lincoln’s housing units
are multifamily. It would seem that the issue is not the amount of
multifamily housing, but apparently a lack of intermingling, which would

Thank you for the clarity and your rationale Sarah.
HCA is clearly not about affordable housing and diversity. It's comical to
argue so.
I would think a developer such as Community Builders with their morals and
business model would be an ideal fit for the mall area and they are already

This issue isn't affecting Lincoln in a bubble. Almost all cities/towns
affected by the act are likely to comply.
If Lincoln chooses not to comply:
- new development would still have to go through the onerous process of
town meeting
- development opportunities in surrounding towns would have mu
BUT: the dog has to be in your ‘control’.
Helpful when attempting to minimize dog feces around Sandy pond that
ultimately ends up in the water, or for cyclists, or runners.

The HCA was absolutely not written with affordable housing in mind. It has
ZERO requirements for affordable housing written into it and it caps the
amount of affordable housing that most towns can require at 10%.
You also have to keep in mind that “affordable income units” are capped at
80% of the

There’s been a lot of discussion about the number of Actual Affordable units in
town vs. each development’s impact on the town's SHI.
That the number of actual units is less than what the town get’s “credit” for
on our SHI is a valid concern, but there are reasons why this is done.
