Our current system is installed by code at the very highest parts of our very

The solution I’ve found is a temporary one, but effective. Home Depot sells a

to reapply it after rain, but they do disappear right after I sprinkle it
around. And - it smells like cloves to me, so no bad odor.

center of town regularly
Good point — especially important when/if the whole town needs to be alerted …
usually it is a call from police.

Hi. Not any change in water use, just this most serious condition. Its not
a "normal" drought condition.
People can take responsibilty of finding out a loosening of conditions or
finding out less serious driughts by reading signs

Regarding using reverse 911, I would rather not risk crying wolf too often
for what I would call a serious situation and not a public emergency. If

This is especially true for well established perennials. Annuals need

Hi Susan,
You buy minisplits through the contractor you hire. John is right about the
general costs of installed minisplits.
As John said, rebates are provided via MassSave and run up to a max of
$10,000.

Dear Steve,
I think this drought is an emergency which requires immediate attention!
Everyone in town needs to be alerted now!
Let’s use the reverse 911!

Hey, Susan!
Three of my friends got mini splits this year, in Lexington, Arlington, and
Seattle. Each one of them paid between $4000 and $5000 per room.
Mass Save rebates for mini splits fall under heat pumps, which you can find out
about here. They’re based on “tons”, so it would depend on how
I don’t think that is enough. People who live in condos don’t get water
bills, since the bills are folded into their condo fees. Sandwich Boards
are hard to read.
I really think in this case a reverse 911 call is the way to go! After all
we are looking at a result of Global Warming ! Let’s make

It seems to me that a natural counterpart to having a water ban would be to
use water usage rates to control the amount of water people are using. Yes,
I know about the tiers. But those rates are set for non-drought
circumstances. Why not temporarily alter the rates in response to the
drought? I fu
I need advice…. Where is the best place to buy a Mini split?
How much would a contractor cost to install one? About?
Other advice?
Rebates? Through Masssave?

Yesterday in our driveway, we found a paper bag filled with several hot dogs

we are thinking it may have been a student but wondering if anyone else has had
this happen.
