replace the 'root=UUID=xxx" setting by "root=/dev/mmcblk0p2".
Ubuntu's initramfs scripts use /proc/cmdline to find out which root
filesystem to mount. This should fix your problem.

to rebuild your rootfs from the same sources, taking advantage of some
of Linaro's contributions to mainline gcc...
