Thanks for your response. Here is the error I get when I do the "make
check" step on the foundation model after having done the "configure" and
"make" steps on the x86_64 linux build machine. I used the configure
options you provided.

in my experience (Ubuntu 13.04, 64-bit), it worked fine (building with the
Linaro toolchain) after doing two installs:
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
and
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs-multiarch
