I'm working on a songbook for a church. Following the convention in modern
hymnals, the "words" and "music" credits are to the left, after the score.
So this is, in essence, the pattern I'm using:

After some study I reduced the basic-distance and stretchability of the
score-markup-spacing. I also reduced the stretchability of the
system-system-spacing and then I expanded all parameters of the
markup-markup-spacing, including a large amount of stretchability.

I should have thought of that. I forgot that outside of the \score block is
the seldom explicitly stated \book scope, where page-break instructions
still make sense.
