Hi LilyPonders
I'm trying to figure out how to notate the arrows up/down used in
particular in flatpicking guitar to indicate the direction of the picking.
In the attached example I'd like to fix three problems:
1) the arrows should be vertically aligned to the same level
2) the horizontal align

I'd like to add something else if I may.
I remember having an absolute none understandable problem some months ago
(took me hours to find it) and discovered that one of my personal function
had a name too close a function used by LilyPond.
So, I would strongly advise you not to use names such as "u
As something of an exercise, I'm setting the Vaughan Williams song "let
beauty awake" in Lily. It's got lots of staff crossing. My current problem
is getting the stems and beams to avoid some markup. The attached image
illustrates the problem. I know I could move all the staves apart more to

I can log in to the LSR but I cannot add a snippet.
The LSR interface is not really user-friendly, I'd much prefer git :)
Find attached a simple example. Hope someone can review it and upload
That looks great!
Fitting dynamics and markups in piano music without the staves getting
ridiculously far apart is my biggest challenge in using Lilypond. It's
amazing the nooks and crannies hand engravers find to put markups.

I am wanting to use different fonts than the default Century Schoolbook.
Century schoolbook is a naturally large typeface, and the glyphs in LilyPond
have
been designed to match it. I want to use other fonts by enlarging the default
document text size without altering the staff or note head, or g

Hi Thomas, hi again Federico,
After a 2nd reading I discovered that I've forgot something : in order to
let the arrows at the same height in any case you should add in the score
context :
\override TextScript #'outside-staff-priority = ##f
Cheers,
Pierre

Greetings List,
With the traditional Ped and * style, how does one adjust the position
of the *? No override I can find appears to make any difference at all.
I would like to be able to add more 'air' in the pedal off pedal on
situation, and be able to move the * to the end of a bar. I can do
