Finding the fonts sometimes works from the first time, sometimes
doesn't. I'll put on a newer version of lily4jedit this week.

Those packages are Woody only, unfortunately. There is some
incompatibility in the kpathsea interface that I couldn't help.

Hi Graham!
I went to that message, and from that have started the install of texinfo.
Now, where to I get the program itself? From the web-site? And which
one? From what you say, this sounds like I could actually do it, but with
a bit more hand-holding.

Is it possible to hide/show the Lilypond toolbar in jEdit. The ideal
would be to show it only if editing a .ly file. I use jEdit for much
more than .ly and it would be nice to save real estate.
BTW - is there a list more focussed to jEdit and Lily issues?

Can you try running
LILYPOND_VERSBOSE=1 lilypond
(or set LILYPOND_VERSBOSE=1;) to see what happens?

Why not make a graphical illustration (or at least pseudo graphical
using indents and line breaks) of the hierarchy.
As input, you might find it easier to look at the file
/ly/engraver-init.ly of your LilyPond installation, instead
of browsing through the program reference.

I have a piece written for "barition in b" (\key c \major | "clef: treble").
I'd like to transpose it for a "trombone in c". ("clef: bass")

Try installing 2.5.28. Or just remove 2.5.12 from wherever it's
installed -- you might
have .28 installed in your home directory but .12 installed elsewhere.

If you want to use 2.5, you should definitely use one of the
most recent ones, for example 2.5.19. Why not even try the
new installer for Linux that was announced today, see
