Were you using a fink package too? If so, a bug report should be
filed. Fink should remove old fonts when upgrading.

The rendered pdf files at http://lilypond.org/stable/examples.html look
fine to me.
Fink compiled lilypond for me and I don't know where to run make
pfa-fonts
But I went to /sw/
ly2dvi -p will not work unless you have the Type1 version of the
feta font installed. If you installed from a prebuilt package,
they should be included (hopefully). If you compiled Lilypond
yourself, make sure you have installed mftrace and then run
make pfa-fonts
make MAKE_PFA_FILES=1 install
