I you read INSTALL.txt, you will find instructions on how to
source the files lilypond-profile/lilypond-login to get the
environment correctly set. What you suggest here is actually
not the best way (trademark) to solve the problem.

I managed to run lilypond-book, then LaTeX.
But it took me some time to figure out all that
I had to set in the environment.
I would like to suggest that this be explained
somewhere in the documentation for running
lilypond-book.

Let LILYPOND be the directory where you built
