I downloaded jEdit, and that seems to work fine for UTF-8.  From what I gathered, jEdit says that the Word files were saved in UTF-8Y, which puts a Byte Order Mark at the beginning of the file.  I'm guessing that's why they didn't work with Lilypond.    -- ___

I just downloaded version 2.5.26 for Windows, and it works great.  I'm very happy with the way I can change the fonts now.  I've had a tough time today with saving a file in utf-8 format to get special characters.  I can edit the file input/regression/utf-8.ly with Microsoft Word 200
