In the file you sent, there was no attempt to have a repeat in the
middle of a measure.
However, in the three upper parts you had inserted the \repeat command
at the beginning
of measure 9, whereas in the bass part you had inserted it at the
beginning of measure 12,
which means that the typeset
eat at the same place!

I'm setting a song in Sacred Harp style, kind of a 19th century style.
I know about the \sacredHarpHeads directive, that works beautifully.
This piece, as many songs in this style, has a chorus that begins in
the middle of a measure. The song is in 6/8, the soprano part (for
example ) has a measur
